Yilmaz and the Waiters
The Little Boy of
Istanbul and the waiters
of the Café by the
Mosque:
Of faith and hope
and charity
Of love,
Of conviviality.

They were talking among themselves and then one of them said to me, “did you know we were speaking Kurdish? Once this language was forbidden to be spoken in Turkey”. To which I replied, because I did not even know Turkish and had no idea what they were saying anyway, “I wouldn’t have even known the difference”.
