Train Crash in Turkey
News from Istanbul, Turkey
Two trains have crashed in Turkey in the north west of the country, near the cities of Eskisehir and Bilecik. One of the drivers was killed and at least three other people have been injured.

The cause of the accident was a failure of one of the trains to stop at a signal and it crashed into the other train which was standing stationery. Passengers are trapped inside the trains and emergency teams are working to release the passengers. The injured report states that another train crew member and passengers sitting in the front part of the train were hurt.
There have been many train accidents in Turkey because of an aging railway system. In 2004, there were several serious train crashes, including a crash involving a new high-speed train from Istanbul to Ankara which derailed, causing the deaths of 37 persons and leaving 90 other people injured. which has caused the Turkish government to investigate and improve the railway system. Problems of the aging railway system include rolling stock, out of date equipment, old train tracks and malfunctioning signaling systems.
It is definitely time for the modernization of the railway system of Turkey.
