The Lonely Gates of Istanbul
Not far from Istanbul, just a boat or ferry ride away from the city, lay the Princes’ Islands in the Sea of Marmara. A trip to the islands is not to be missed when visiting Istanbul. Plan to spend at least a long day there, there are hotels, restaurants, mountains to climb, beautiful old houses, a monastery and rugged beautiful coastlines to visit.
This photograph was taken late one afternoon at the docks of Büyükada Island. It had actually been a sunny day and the sun was setting but the photo looks gloomy and gray because I desaturated the image
and added some blue tone for effect
with PhotoShop. This is a solemn photograph and I wanted to give it a feeling of sadness, loneliness and melancholy.
It’s amazing what you can do with a photograph in Photoshop. With PhotoShop, you can erase history, time and truth. It’s a required tool for all masters of propaganda whose sole purpose in life is to warp time and truth.
