Mehmet, a handsome young man worked at the Café Efsane. In this story, he was the invisible translator. Because Yilmaz and I could not speak the same language, Mehmet was able to translate instantaneously as I asked questions, Yilmaz answered or Yilmaz ask his questions and I answered. Mehmet had a very strong grasp on the English language and should be working somewhere as an interpretor. He helped me to find Yilmaz and was one of the waiters who brought Yilmaz to me on the third day.

Often, I would go to the café and sit with him, drinking apple tea as his guest or perhaps a few times I had lunch there. I ate my favorite meal there, the lamb shiskebab. One day, he wants to travel. All of my friends who have travelled from Canada have gone to the Efsane Café and have met with him.

I created a photograph of him in Photoshop and I call this photograph “Mehmet in Wonderland”.
