First Vision of Istanbul
I’m thinking that this blog of mine about Istanbul is mostly visual. It’s a moment or two in time, captured by the camera, words that come from somewhere, I don’t know the origin. The words and the visions are a gift to me. How lucky I am. What a twisted path my life has been that led me to Istanbul and to the little boy of that city.I spoke about the first time I saw the city. This is the first view of the city that made me fall in love with it. It is possible that the city of Istanbul is a woman, on the surface, the pretty colors, but below that surface in the depth, lies turmoil and complexity.
But when I first went to Istanbul, everybody I knew was afraid for me because most people’s visions of Turkey come from the film “Midnight Express”. That movie made in 1978, still lingers in most people’s minds.
The first view I had of Istanbul when I arrived by taxi was the view over the Galata Bridge, the colors were softened by the setting sun. Here is that photo:

Congratulations Tanya!
You have taken beautiful pictures and described our beloved city very well. Continue your art and love of traveling, photography, and discovering different cultures. Once people learn about the others, they will understand that “there is no stranger in life, except friends they haven’t met, yet.”
