The ships sail
Water glistens
Traffic roars
Men fish
From the Galata Bridge
And people pray
For paradise and
Air conditioners
I am looking for the little boy
Of Istanbul.
It’s his eyes you see
That captured me
The beauty and the fear.
Ships pull out from harbor
Hands clap with joy
Pigeons fly
In quick escape
To hide away
And I hear a call
